Tours for Primary 6

1. Chinatown and the Chinese Culture
The walk about in Chinatown will bring students to the oldest Hokkien Temple in Singapore, introduce Clan Associations and Traditional Trades but also highlight the other inhabitants like Indian Muslims and Indian Hindus who lived side by side with the Chinese. The trip will emphasise on the beginning of racial integration and harmony as well as the pioneers and legendary figures like the Sam Sui Women.

Hokkien, Cantonese, Teochew and Hakka…. A walk in Chinatown will make the students see where the early immigrants settled but also how these places have developed and what happened to tradition. Tuck into authentic food and have the students taste some very traditional cakes! We can include a visit to the Chinatown Heritage Centre.

2. City Gallery and Singapore River Cruise
Singapore’s progress as a nation in industry, transport and education, recreation and information technology is showcased at the URA City Gallery. In this Interactive Centre, students will be able to see how planning and decision making is done in land-scarce Singapore. What are our assets and how are they maximised for the future?

The highlight of this trip is a cruise down the Singapore River in a traditional bumboat! See how the past and the present work together and even have a ‘peep’ at the future!
